If you’re a fan of a brunch buffet, except for the Timeline, all the others options are in hotel’s restaurant. The B-Lounge in Hotel Barceló, in the Rambla del Raval, is one of the best known and has kept its prices reasonable. It costs 25€ and includes coffee or tea, a mimosa or a Bloody Mary, and eggs benedict or florentine.
You will find the space on the ground floor of the hotel. It’s a charming restaurant, with the buffet laid out so it’s a treat for your eyes first.
You can enjoy this brunch on Sundays from 12 to 4pm. Although it’s a big place, it’s always a good idea to book in advance. The B-Lounge has a capacity of 125 people, and it’s noted for its large group parties.
Once you’ve sat down, a waiter makes a note of the hot drink and cocktail that you’ve chosen, and you can immediately begin to tackle the buffet. The part with hot food includes: vegetables, croquettes, chicken skewers and pizza. To the side of the hot buffet are the cheeses, cold meats, bread and pastries. To the same side is a selection of coffee and tea, water and juices. A good part of the buffet is dedicated to sweet things: fruit, cakes and pastries. All the vegetarian options are clearly marked.
The waiters are very attentive and quickly collect empty plates. Shortly after beginning to eat, they came round and asked us if we would prefer eggs benedict or florentine. I asked for eggs benedict, but it wasn’t the best I’ve ever had. They served it on sliced bread with cooked ham.
It’s a large buffet, and you could eat until you make yourself sick, but I noticed the difference in the quality of the food served here compared to the food you find in smaller cafes and restaurants.
The brunch was accompanied by music provided by a live dj, although I personally felt that it was a bit too loud.
Once in the hotel, and after you have enjoyed this brunch buffet in Raval, I recommend visiting the terrace on the 11th floor. It’s 180 metres square, and has 360 degree panoramic views and a bar that’s open between March and October. You can access the terrace all year round, using the lift on the right.
