Summary:

Having to take a train to brunch in Sant Cugat? Yes, and so worth it! At Somewhere Café you will find great quality food and a coffee to die for, and you’ll enjoy it all amidst a unique and cozy environment.
Brunch in Sant Cugat–Somewhere Cafe-Pancakes What more beautiful occasion than a brunch to stroll around the streets of Sant Cugat? Or going to Sant Cugat to enjoy a high quality brunch with great and unique character?

Somewhere Cafe will surprise you, not only for their food and extraordinary coffee, but also for the remodelled space, put together with great care by people who are very passionate about this project. In the first area of the restaurant, you’ll find a communal table followed by some more consequent tables. Additionally, if you’d like to organize an event or a brunch with a large group, there is an upper floor with a dining room containing a table, which was uniquely constructed with the recycled ancient doors of the restaurant. Furthermore, they will soon open a terrace in their adjacent patio. The decor is not only visually pleasant, but also very functional and well thought out for people of all ages, the younger ones included. If you have children, they will be able to sit on a high chair, order dishes arranged especially for them, and they’ll be able to play after the meal in a separate area.

The brunch menu offers few yet very selective dishes. We tried the “Huevos revueltos DE VERDAD (REAL scrambled eggs)” with asparagus, artichokes, and ham, in addition to the “Spanglish,” fried eggs with mushrooms, spinach, artichokes, black pudding, tomato, and ham. Dishes are served with a huge slice of toasted bread (the delicious kind!).

To end the meal, we shared some pancakes and scones served with mascarpone and homemade compote. The meal resulted in a total success as we admired the cozy and welcoming ambiance, enchanted by the wonderful result. To finalize, I would like to highlight the quality of the coffee and the incredible skills of the barista. We now have to expand our route to include this brunch in Sant Cugat, and once you’re there, don’t forget to take a stroll around the cathedral!

I would agree with all of the positive review comments here re: decor, ambience, friendliness of staff and 'baby-friendliness' however, would like to add that gluten free food IS available albeit not all the time. The cakes are made on site and if it is early in the week there are often GF muffins available. The chef has also prepared a delicious chocolate mousse/brioche concoction from scratch as there was nothing available - though I am a fairly regular customer. The staff are excellent, friendly and attentive while leaving you to enjoy your coffee and daydream! Very friendly to mums with prams - not always the case everywhere. Go to Somewhere, you won't be disappointed!
