Born only three months ago, this new restaurant has a great location in Raval. Here you can enjoy the spectacular food of a recognized Australian chef in Barcelona.
The chef/owner of Caravelle has acquired a good reputation here in Barcelona, thanks to his first business, Federal Café. Now he has opened a restaurant/bar in neighbourhood Raval, where on the weekend you can enjoy an original brunch. The medium size of the place helps to keep the noise down. Entering the restaurant you can see part of the kitchen on the opposite side. On one side of the restaurant there is a white plain wall with fitted wooden benches whereas on the other side you’ll find a long bar with stools, where there are colourful boxes of ecological tea. Like the colour of their logo, you will drink your coffee from red cups. When we arrived we were lucky to find an unoccupied. While we were there, we observed quite a lot of movement of people coming and going. I believe that the approximate average age of the customers was around 35 years old. And thank to the linguistic skills of the waiters, we could listen to people being served both in English and Spanish. For brunch you have the possibility to order something sweet or savoury. We had •baked Moroccan eggs with feta chees and toast, •brioche French toast with baked plums and vanilla mascarpone, •baked eggs with crème fraîche, leeks and spinach and •sandwich with chicken piri piri with coriander coleslaw. Everything was very well presented and absolutely delicious. The quality-price relationship is excellent and so is the service. We will definitely go back to Caravelle to discover some other interesting dishes, which apparently change often in their menu.
