Are you one of those people who sometimes fancies brunch in the middle of the week, in the afternoon or at night? You don’t have to settle for just wishing any longer, now you can go to Alsur Café for brinner…
Brunch for dinner, brinner is here-Alsur Cafe Palau-Pancakes with strawberries, mascarpone cheese and maple syrupBrunch has now arrived in the first of the Alsur Cafes, the one almost in front of the Palau de la Musica. But here you can enjoy not only a brunch, but also a brinner (breakfast for dinner). That is to say – brunch here is served any day of the week and at any time, so if you fancy having brunch for dinner, no one will stop you!
You probably already know that there are 3 Alsur Cafes in Barcelona, but did you also know that each one has a different menu? The most popular dishes can be found in all three restaurants, but the rest of what’s on offer changes – not just in the way it’s cooked, but in the very recipe.
To present the renovated premises and new dishes, the charming owners organised an event for bloggers, influencers and youtubers. It was great to put a face to the various accounts that you follow on social media and that you often interact with. It was even more delightful because all the chatter was accompanied with good food and plentiful drink.
The dishes they brought us, which I personally consider quite typical of a brunch, were as follows:

  • Fried eggs with potatoes, tomato salsa, refried beans and tortillas
  • Cazuela-cooked eggs with iberico ham and potatoes
  • Eggs benedict on cereal-bread, ham, fresh spinach and hollandaise sauce
  • Eggs with salmon and steamed vegetables
  • Home-made pancakes with maple syrup, mascarpone and strawberries
  • Pancakes with chocolate chips, banana, maple syrup and mascarpone

We could also try:

  • A mixed antipasto of humus, tzatziki, creamed aubergines and tabbouleh with fried bread
  • Glazed aubergines with honey
  • Alsur salad with marinated chicken, nuts, oranges and sweet-mustard salsa
  • Nachos with cheese, sour cream, tomato salsa, guacamole, refried beans and jalapeno chillies

Congratulations guys, you keep getting better and better and offering original brunch dishes which always leave customers wanting to come back for another taste.

As an aficionado of all things sweet, I would just like to add that the pancakes are some of the best I’ve eaten in my life. Just seeing the photos and remembering those intense yet delicate flavours makes my mouth water!

So now you know – if one Tuesday at 7 in the evening you fancy a brunch, don’t despair – head to the nearest Alsur café, and your wish will be granted! Their slogan is one of the most appropriate I’ve ever seen – #LQQCQ – ‘Lo que quieras cuando quieras’, which is Spanish for: Whatever you want, whenever you want it.
