Summary:

The cosy Carmencita Bar, located in the San Bernardo neighbourhood, offers some typical brunch dishes that you can enjoy with 1€ Mimosas.

Brunching in Madrid–Carmencita Bar-Scrambled eggs with grilled goat cheese It was not easy to find a brunch spot in Madrid considering the big offer in the capital. I chose Carmencita bar because it had many references on the web and the price was more than reasonable. I booked a table at 1pm, but we had to wait half an hour to sit. The place is small and it was packed with people. The most spoken language was English.

The menu includes eggs benedict (with bacon, salmon or avocado) with a side dish to choose between homemade fries, hash browns or salad. The same side dish options are available for the scrambled eggs with grilled goat cheese or provolone. French toast is served with bacon and scrambled eggs. You can also choose between “huevos rancheros” or one of the seven burgers on the menu. There is the “brunch menu” option as well, which includes eggs benedict, Mimosa, dessert of the day and large coffee for 14€. Mimosa wasn’t made with orange juice but with some soft drink such as Fanta or Trina. Of course, if the price is only 1€ you cannot expect too much… But what was really surprising was the price of the tea: 2€ for a tea bag from Mercadona supermarket

Those last two details lowered the quality of this brunch, but I must say that food was good and portions generous; besides, the place is cosy and the service friendly.
